gameboy900 The Sega Continues...Or At Least The Next Sega History Volume Is Here
2003.12.29 03:43 GMT :: gameboy900
It certainly has been a busy day here at VGR. First we reach the incredible 10,000 game mark and now we are posting the second part of the great Sega history written by The Scribe. So mosey on down to the Articles section and read "Volume 2 - Master System/Game Gear - Trail Blazer". This is a great series, that is well written and researched. We hope you enjoy reading it and learning about one of the greats of the video game industry.
RevQuixo 10,000 Game Profiles!
2003.12.28 20:07 GMT :: RevQuixo
Well, the magic number of 10,000 profiles has been reached. In celebration of this milestone achievement, we have activated the Nintendo Entertainment System database and will start accepting submissions for its games.

The 10,000th game? Super Mario Bros. 3 A definite classic in any true gamer's library.

Consider this our send off for 2003. We have a lot of great things planned for 2004. Look for a contest in January to kick off the new year as well as the next 10,000 profiles.

gameboy900 New Section... New Content... New Year (Well Almost)
2003.12.22 05:47 GMT :: gameboy900
You may have noticed a new section appearing here at VGR. We have just added the Articles page. This page will feature articles written by VGR staff and anyone else who submits something for us to post. If you have written any interesting classic or modern video game related articles, you may submit them to us by emailing them to one of the staff.

But you may be asking yourself "why have an Articles section without some content?" Well you're in luck because we have just that... content. So for your reading pleasure we are going to post the complete Sega history series, originally featured on the now closed SegaBase site. With The Scribes permission, we will be adding a new volume of the series on a weekly basis. But it's not just a simple cut and paste job, we are cleaning up the pages and adding links to the VGR profile pages for the various games mentioned in the articles. I would highly recommend you check this series out, it's good reading. So without further ado we present "Volume 1 - SG-1000/SC-3000 - The Early Days". Read about Sega's humble beginnings through to it's first home game console.
RevQuixo All US & JP Sega / Mega CD Games Up!
2003.12.16 04:20 GMT :: RevQuixo
Well, we (Quadriflax & myself) finally broke down and started adding profiles to the very first system we added to VGR. The Sega (Mega) CD is one of the favorite consoles of our Web Guru, Mowgli, and consequently it was the first system we established when we were testing out the site.

Many profiles later, we now have a fairly complete record of US & Japanese releases. Like always there are gaps in our data that could use the attention of Kindly VGR submitters...so please give us some loving in the submission department.

Also, our poor European Mega CD section is still incomplete. So any help there completeing our list would be much appreciated.

gameboy900 We Are Still Alive...and Working!
2003.12.03 05:25 GMT :: gameboy900
I know sometimes it seems like nothing is happening with the site. Oh sure occasionally a game or two appears on the new games list and then silence. But don't fret folks as we are busy busy busy around here. Yes we are all taking a bit of a break from hardcore work on the site (it is the holidays after all) but that doesn't mean the site is dead. Many of the things that are happening are "under the hood" where most of you wouldn't even notice them. However we are diligently working on getting this site better and better.

Games are being added at record rates. We are hoping to break the magic 10,000 game number by the end of the year (and with only 500 games left as of this post that's quite possible). We are also gonna be on a new rampage adding images to many many games. Due to some of those "under the hood" additions adding images for us has become infinitely easier now. Other features are in the works too and some new content to read. So relax folks we're not going anywhere and stay tuned for some great stuff in the time to come.
